Principal Investigator

Professor, School of AI

Wuhan University

Qian Qin (秦谦) is a professor at the School of AI, Wuhan University, and the principal investigator of the Qin AIM Lab. His research focuses on computational biology, biomedical AI, regulatory genomics, cancer genomics, single-cell and spatial multi-omics, long-read sequencing, structural variation, and precision medicine.

Dr. Qin received his PhD from Tongji University in 2017, where he worked with Dr. Xiaole Shirley Liu and contributed to the ENCODE project. During his doctoral training, he developed computational methods for epigenomic data analysis, led the construction of the Cistrome Data Browser, and built machine-learning algorithms for integrating large-scale epigenomic datasets and modeling regulatory patterns.

He later worked at the Children’s Hospital of Fudan University, where he studied clinical genomic diagnosis for pediatric diseases and helped translate in-house computational tools into real clinical settings. Since 2019, he has conducted postdoctoral and senior computational biology research at Harvard Medical School and affiliated institutes, working across cancer genomics, single-cell multi-omics, long-read sequencing, structural variation detection, cell fate plasticity, spatial transcriptomics, autoimmune disease mechanisms, and generative AI for biomedical data analysis.

Dr. Qin has led the development of multiple bioinformatics tools that have been widely used at international research institutions including the Broad Institute. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers, with representative work cited more than 5,700 times, and his software tools have served more than 500,000 research users.
